A <br />public forum, parent workshops, campus support groups, and direct <br />intervention to professional counselors were offered. Over 250 people <br />attended a Gan Awareness Forum at the Main Libra . <br />The Mayor's Office collaborated with the Models of Unity Project for a <br />Race Unit Month and a Race Unit Picnic at Marina Park. <br />The City offered the community a Cultural Diversity Program with <br />workshops and group discussions on cultural diversity, prejudice and <br />intolerance. The program included "Train the Trainer" where City staff <br />became the community meetin facilitators. <br />The Police and Recreation Departments sponsored a County~wide Hate <br />Crime Prevention Worksho at the Main Libr <br />The City began incorporating Advent, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa traditions <br />into the annual Holida Tree Li tin event. <br />The City received a $5,000 state grant to purchase Spanish language <br />materials for the Library, which was the beginning of the Library's Spanish <br />Lan ua e Collection. <br />A team of City staff was created as the Cultural Diversity Task Force, and <br />the City offered the community a second series of Cultural Diversity <br />workshops (Study Circles) on cultural diversity, racism and race relations, <br />with Ci staff once a ain facilitatin the discussions. <br />Libra staff attended State Librar Celebratin Diversit trainin . <br />The Library, followed by the Recreation and Human Services Department, <br />began hosting an annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day program for the <br />communi to honor Dr. Kin and his life's accom lishments. <br />The Library began an annual Black History Month program. <br /> <br />The Library, followed by the Recreation and Human Services Department, <br />be an hostin Cinco de Ma 0 celebrations at the Civic Center Plaza. <br />The Library began offering an annual Lunar New Year Program. <br /> <br />The Library began celebrantion of National Women's History Month. <br /> <br />The City produced a "San Leandro Celebrates Diversity" pamphlet <br />describing the City's commitment to celebrate diversity in programs and <br />services. <br />The Diversity Resource Directory was created to provide listings of local <br />agencies, non~profit organizations, and government agencies that provide <br />services to the community. <br />Currently: The Directory has been reprinted in 1999 and 2003, <br />adding churches and schools. Staff is getting quotes now to do a <br />2007 u date. <br />
