Project Literacy will provide free literacy support services <br />and community outreach to the functionally illiterate population. Specifically, the program will provide <br />tutoring, a Computer Lab, and the Families for Literacy program. <br />• Low/moderate income individuals will gain literacy skills that they can apply in social, educational, <br />employment, and community settings, thereby increasing their independence and self sufficiency. <br />MAJOR ACTIVITIES <br />Project Literacy will be provide on a year-round schedule: <br />• One-on-one tutoring, Instructional Computer Lab (computer stations with instructional literacy and <br />reading software which tutors and students may use for one-on-one learning sessions), Families for <br />Literacy services, and community outreach sites with open-entry/open-exit accessibility; <br />• Convenience -based schedule/location; <br />Client customized and learner -centered curriculum; and, <br />Two to three volunteer tutor trainings. <br />PERFORMANCE MEASURES <br />SUBRECIPIENT SHALL, FOR THE TERM OF THE CONTRACT: <br />1. Serve 150 students with sixty (60%) of the students increasing their independence and self-sufficiency <br />as indicated by their demonstration of new applications of literacy skills within the context of work, family, <br />community and personal life. <br />2. Recruit and train approximately 100 tutors. <br />3.
