CITY OF SAN LEANDRO STAFF REPORT APPROVED AND FORWARDED TO CITY COUNCIL TO: City Council DATE: June 27, 2007 FROM: John Jermanis, City Manager SUBJECT PROJECTIPROJECT DESCRIPTION: RESOLUTION APPROVING EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT WITH CITY MANAGER JOHN 1. JERMANIS. SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION On June 18 and 25, 2007, the City Council met in closed session to evaluate the job performance of the City Manager. The City Council has determined the following: . The City Manager's performance during the contract period has been satisfactory; . The current contract will be extended through the City's Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2008 with the following changes to the terms and conditions: Section 3 (a) - Resignation and Termination: At least Ninety (90) days rather than 60 days advance notice of the effective date of resignation. A statement regarding the development of a transition plan upon notice of my resignation has been added. Section 5 - Salary: A salary of 20% above step five of the salary range of the highest paid City management employee. The provision for consideration of a merit bonus of up to 10% of annual salary has been eliminated. Exhibit A: Updated City Council goals and priorities for 2007-08. BACKGROUND Analysis The current contract expires on June 30, 2008. The effective date of the contract renewal is July 1,2007. Current City Council Policy The City Manager is employed under the provisions of a contractual services agreement for a defined period of time. The contract may be renewed by the City Council if the job performance is deemed satisfactory. Previous City Council Action(s) The City Council has employed John J. Jermanis as City Manager since February 1997.
