<br />CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br /> <br />STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />APPROVED AND <br />FORWARDED <br />TO CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />City Council <br /> <br /> <br />DATE: <br /> <br />June 27, 2007 <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />John Jermanis, City Manager <br /> <br />SUBJECT PROJECTIPROJECT DESCRIPTION: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT WITH CITY MANAGER <br />JOHN 1. JERMANIS. <br /> <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />On June 18 and 25, 2007, the City Council met in closed session to evaluate the job performance <br />of the City Manager. The City Council has determined the following: <br /> <br />. The City Manager's performance during the contract period has been satisfactory; <br />. The current contract will be extended through the City's Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2008 <br />with the following changes to the terms and conditions: <br /> <br />Section 3 (a) - Resignation and Termination: At least Ninety (90) days rather than 60 <br />days advance notice of the effective date of resignation. A statement regarding the <br />development of a transition plan upon notice of my resignation has been added. <br /> <br />Section 5 - Salary: A salary of 20% above step five of the salary range of the highest <br />paid City management employee. The provision for consideration of a merit bonus of up <br />to 10% of annual salary has been eliminated. <br /> <br />Exhibit A: Updated City Council goals and priorities for 2007-08. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />Analysis <br />The current contract expires on June 30, 2008. The effective date of the contract renewal is <br />July 1,2007. <br /> <br />Current City Council Policy <br />The City Manager is employed under the provisions of a contractual services agreement for a <br />defined period of time. The contract may be renewed by the City Council if the job performance <br />is deemed satisfactory. <br /> <br />Previous City Council Action(s) <br />The City Council has employed John J. Jermanis as City Manager since February 1997. <br />
