Expand and enhance the detection capabilities of the City's Advanced Traffic Signal System
(A TSS) by installing additional vehicle detection at seven (7) existing signalized
intersections. The primary function of the detection will be to improve the actuated
operation of the traffic signals to allow for more efficient traffic flow and to provide traffic
volume and speed data for traffic-responsive or adaptive control that will reduce congestion
at intersections, thereby reducing vehicle emissions. The seven locations are:
o Bayfair Drive at Hesperian Boulevard
o Hesperian Boulevard at Springlake Drive
o Hesperian Boulevard at Thomally Drive
o Alvarado Street at Marina Boulevard
o Marina Boulevard at Teagarden Street/Wayne Avenue
