8/22/07 Dear Kathleen, Here is the letter I sent originally and the email that it was sent through. As I mentioned on the phone, while some of the concems raised by our letter have been covered by another comment letter (letter from COR's Board Chair Michael Wharton, dated July 19. 2007) and responded to by the city, some of our concerns have only been partially addressed or not addressed at all. These include the following: 1. Full analysis of the potential for extremely low, very low and low-income residents living in (non restricted) rental housing in the Strategy Area to be displaced by rising rents catalyzed by the new public and private investment in the Strategy's Opportunity Sites; 2. Full analysis of the affonlable bousina demand by type and cost that will be ,:reated by new Jobs in the Strategy Area and the Strategy's capacity to meet that new demand (also referred to as the jobslhousmg balance); 3. Analysis of the need for affordable housing for large families and the Stratei)"S capacity to meet that demapd; and 4. Analysis of the potential adverse enviromnental impacts, particularly related to air quality and the city's contribution to climate change, of the tesidflllt displacement, jobs/housing balance, and mix of affordability resu1tin& from the aarrcnt TOO Strategy. I hope that the city will have a chance to more fully address these concerns in its presentations to the PI~ Commission tomorrow night (8/23/07) IJ:Id to the City Council on September 4dl. I would appreciate a confirmation that the Planning Commission and City Council received copies of the letter and any additional information that is shared with them 81 a result of this letter.
