Coats (requests President Bush and <br />Congress to grant permanent resident status). (1123) <br /> <br />M/S/C Gregory and Prola. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br /> <br />A. Resolution Commending Pat Loomes on Her Retirement after 30 Years as Executive <br />Director of Girls Incorporated of Alameda County. <br /> <br />Mayor Santos presented the commendation to Pat Loomes and congratulated her on her <br />retirement. <br /> <br />B. Commendation Recognizing Jim Sorensen, a Teacher at Bancroft Middle School, for <br />His Outstanding Achievements in Track and Field Events. <br /> <br />Councilmember Gregory presented the commendation to Jim Sorensen and <br />congratulated him on his achievements. <br /> <br />C. San Leandro LINKS Shuttle: 2007 LINKS Shuttle Rider Survey Results and LINKS <br />Marketing and Public Outreach Efforts for 2007-08. <br /> <br />Gordon Galvan, Executive Officer of the San Leandro LINKS Shuttle program, gave a <br />short presentation, providing an overview of the operations of the LINKS Shuttle, the <br />results of the 2007 rider survey, and the planned marketing and public outreach efforts <br />for fiscal year 2007-08. Mr. Galvan announced that LINKS will celebrate its millionth <br />rider sometime next year. <br />Valerie Brock provided a report of the 2007 ridership survey findings. Ms. Brock <br />reported that the LINKS service has grown rapidly over the past six years, while rider <br />satisfaction levels have remained consistently high. She reported that 66% of riders <br />work for employers in the BID and another 11% work locally, and 60% also ride <br />BART. Ms. Brock reported that 84% of riders said that losing the LINKS service <br />would pose a significant financial hardship for them. <br />Ms. Brock responded to questions from the Council, and stated that she would provide <br />the Council with the full report and survey. <br /> <br />Councilmember Gregory observed that people will take transit if it is free, and the <br />allow LINKS to continue to help alleviate traffic <br /> <br />
