Bay Trail Slough Bridge Grant Application 3 October 1, 2007 • Policy 14.01--Citywide Bikeway System: Develop and maintain a citywide bikeway system that effectively serves residential areas, employment centers, schools, parks, and multi-modal terminals • Action 14.01 B--Capital Improvement Scheduling: Maintain a schedule of capital improvement priorities in the City's Bikeway Plan and update this schedule as projects are completed and additional funds become available. Capital projects should be developed in accordance with the design standards and priorities identified in the plan • Policy 14.02--Funding: Aggressively pursue state and federal funding for bicycle and pedestrian improvements, while also including funding for bicycle and pedestrian improvements in the City's Capital Improvement Program • Policy 18.02--Capital Improvements: Identify capital improvements and other measures that improve the safety of bicyclists, pedestrians, and motor vehicles on San Leandro streets • Policy 18.05--Funding: Pursue grants for the improvement of pedestrian, bicycle, and motor vehicle safety. Implement strategies including the City operating procedures Permits and/or Variances Granted Not Applicable Environmental Review Not Applicable Code Compliance Review Not Applicable Board/Commission Findings Not Applicable Summary of Public Outreach Efforts Not Applicable Fiscal Impact • The total cost for the construction phase of the Bay Trail Slough Bridge project is $32 million • This grant provides up to $395,000 for the subject project • The City will continue to pursue the balance of the project funds from other grant funding sources • A total of $1,528,000 in construction funding has already been granted from Measure B and SAFTEA-LU Reauthorization • An additional $750,000 fund from MTC's Regional Bicycle and Pedestrian Program (CMAQ) allocation is pending • Other grant opportunities are being pursued to close the funding gap
