Continued Discussion Regarding Shape-up San Leandro Program <br />Councihnember Gregory reported that a Shape Up San Leandro Ad Hoc Task <br />Force consisting of City staff, Committee reps, the School District and Kaiser <br />Permanente met and discussed various efforts. Meeting notes were distributed. <br />The next meeting will be on October 12, 2007. Superintendant Lim presented a <br />PowerPoint, "We're Shaping Up In San Leandro," which will be presented to the <br />School Board. She also related that SB78 now requires additional P.E. for those <br />who do not meet minimum requirements. <br />3. Discussion Re ardin~ Safe Routes to Schools Traffic Safety Grants <br />Board Member Davis suggested that interactive speed signs would be worthwhile <br />to apply for. Director Udemezue related that the City had received several Safe <br />Routes to School Grants providing funding for 12 different projects, including <br />in-crosswalk lighting. The Committee requested that Udemezue provide them <br />with the list of the projects. Mayor Santos passed out a copy of the Mayor's <br />proclamation of October 3 as Walk to School Day. <br />4. Discussion Rewarding Potential Joint-Use Projects <br />The Committee briefly discussed the following four projects: <br />• SL High Arts Education Center (AEC) <br />City Manager Jermanis stated that the City had no funds to participate in <br />the enhancement of the Arts Education Center. Superintendent Lim stated <br />that the District was looking for grants to expand the capacity from 450 to <br />550 seats. <br />• 9th Grade Campus Gymnasium <br />There was a general agreement that the City might possibly participate in <br />the construction of the gymnasium. The City and School District will look <br />for grants and try to fast track this project. <br />• SL High Parking Lot <br />The School District is in the process in obtaining the parking lot property <br />from PG&E. <br />
