The analysis
included a look at "wants" versus "needs",
budget considerations and space limitations
July 30, 2007 - a staff meeting was conducted
with key neighborhood representatives.
August 8, 2007 -WLC Architects presented
several schematic design schemes to the
Steering Committee which included floor plans.
Participation and attendance was excellent, and
the design evolution was clearly articulated and
fully understood. Not only was consensus
reached on one schematic design, the choice
was unanimous. The Steering Committee
members provided comments and feedback to
be incorporated into the schematic design, for
presentation at the August 22nd meeting.
August 22, 2007 -WLC Architects
incorporated all comments, feedback, and
tweaking provided from the August 8th Steering
Committee meeting. A consensus was reached
on one schematic design with the
understanding that the architects would meet
with the fire marshal to determine entrances
and exits and other safety requirements, and
the physical education (PE) staff to resolve PE
issues, and library and technology staff to
discuss their needs.
This inclusive process, which
encompassed multiple perspectives and the
dedication of staff and community, has led to a
design fully supported by the Measure B
Steering Committee. Thank you once again, San
Leandro voters, for making this outstanding
vision a reality!
YI~W F,~t G~tTy.~/,o
q~~ g~pr cfiyivs . !~'~n ~
