San Leandro is centrally located in the San Francisco Bay Area (7 minutes from Oakland Airport <br />and 25 minutes from downtown San Francisco), served by all major transit operators and within close <br />proximity to three major transportation corridors, an airport and the Port of Oakland, making it a great <br />business location and convenient to many tourism destinations throughout the region as well as <br />exceptional shopping, dining and recreational activities. San Leandro is culturally diverse with a rich <br />heritage, active neighborhoods and a strong sense of community. <br />What three recent positive developments in your community would you like to <br />see us highlight on video? <br />1 - A plethora of City facility and service improvements that include the opening of a new highly <br />popular, state-of--the-art recreational swimming pool; a brand new branch library; the launching of a new <br />History Walk in the downtown area, highlighting important events in the City's past; a new fire station <br />serving the west side of town; a new museum and art gallery; a new San Leandro history room at the <br />main library; and more. <br />2 --Business and infrastructure improvements, including the resurgence of Bay~fair Center -- one of the <br />first suburban shopping malls in the region., if not the state; the revamping of several neighborhood. <br />shopping districts (feahue Manor Boulevard, MacArthur Boulevard and Parrott Street) <br />3 -Recent adoption of afar-reaching plan to transform the City's downtown to an even more <br />pedestrian-friendly, transit-oriented town center that will bring new businesses and residents to the area. <br />What natural features (rivers, lakes, mountains) add to your community's quality of living? <br />• San Francisco Bay and the City's Marina and shoreline trails (longest stretch of public shoreline <br />in the regi.on), with spectacular views of downtown Sai.1 Francisco and Oakland <br />• Lake Chabot (part of regional park system) offers hiking, camping, boating, picnicking <br />• San Leandro Creek which runs near the heart of downtown <br />• Tree-lined neighborhood streets (for the 10`h year in a row, San Leandro honored as a Tree City <br />USA) <br />• San Leandro Hills, which serve as a picturesque backdrop for the town <br />
