On the horizon are two major developments for San Leandro, including a new large-scale 30-acre retail <br />center west of Highway 880 that will simulate a ``downtown'' atmosphere, with outdoor dining, public <br />areas and a mix of shops and services. Additionally, the City Council adopted afar-reaching transit- <br />oriented plan for the City's downtown in 2007 that is expected to spur green-oriented, pedestrian- <br />friendly residential and business development downtown to take advantage of the variety of transit <br />options available in the downtown area. <br />What three words would you use to describe your community's mix of restaurants? <br />• Multi-ethnic - includes a wonderful array of ethnic eateries such as Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, <br />Greek, .Italian. Portuguese and more <br />~ Waterfront dining such as the highly regarded Horatio's Restaruant, <br />~ Long-established local favorites such as Loard's Ice Cream, Porky's Pizza Palace, Ernie's <br />Seafood, and others <br />Name and briefly describe prominent dining/entertainment districts in your community <br />The Marina area is a picturesque and popular spot for dining and outdoor activities such as strolling, <br />picnicking, biking, golfing and more. Dining options include: Horatio's, E1 Torito and Wedges <br />restaurant at the golf course. <br />Bayfair Center - 16-screen theater, variety of shops and restaurants in and around the mall, including <br />Chevy's, Fresh Choice, Chili's and more. <br />The North Area Business Dish•ict has the highly popular Paradiso for fine dining, Cornerstone Cafe <br />known for its breakfasts and lunch and a variety of shops. <br />MacArthur Boulevard District (between Dutton and Estudillo) is a newly renovated business district that <br />also offers a variety of shops and services as well as popular restaurants such as Vila Cereja, Sonoma's, <br />Everybody's Bagel Shop, Sabino's Coffee Shop and CreAsia and the popular Galvan's Meat Market and <br />Estudillo Produce Shop. <br />San Leandro's downtown has also undergone major streetscape improvements in recent years, including <br />the recently completed History Walk, enhancing the pedestrian e~:perience.
