Shopping & Dining <br />Are there any shopping districts/neighborhoods/malls in your community? Name and briefly <br />describe each. <br />San Leandro provides a variety of shopping experiences for consumers, including a variety of known. <br />depairtment stores and one of the oniy outlet shopping destinations in the Bay Area. Primary retail areas <br />include: <br />Bayfair Center: Newly renovated and expanded. Originally built in the SOs -- was one of the first and <br />tivas the largest suburban shopping mall in the country at that time. Includes Macy's as well as new <br />stores such as kohl's, Target, Old Navy, Bed, Bath & Beyond and eating establishments such as <br />Chevy's, Chili's, anal Starbucks. Includes a 16-screen Century Movie Theater and easy access to public <br />transit. <br />Marina Square Shoppin C~ enter; One of the Bay Area's only outlet shopping centers -- includes shops <br />such as the Nordstrom .Rack, Ann Taylor, Eddie Bauer, Nine West and outlets not found elsewhere on <br />the west coast such as Eileen Fisher and Talbots. Highly popular shopping destination with visitors from <br />throughout the region. <br />Downtown, includint, Pelton Plaza: the central hub of San Leandro, the city's downtown, with its new <br />History Walk and other pedestrian amenities and local and nationally known shops and restaurants has a <br />variety of shops, restaurants, real estate offices, banking institutions and services ranging from hair and <br />nail shops to printing services. Pelton Center was also one of the first shopping centers of its kind in the <br />area. <br />Westgate: Includes such major retailers as Home Depot, Costco, Wal-Mart, Sportmar-t and Office Depot <br />.Auto Mall: San Leandro is putting the finishing touches on its new, highly successful auto mall area <br />along Marina Boulevard, which features a large number of major automobile dealerships inchtding Ford, <br />Honda, Nissan., Hyundai, Volvo and others. The area provides convenient access to multiple dealerships <br />for auto buyers and has provided stable income for the San Leandro economy. <br />Various neighborhood shopping districts such as in the North Area and Manor Boulevard boast such <br />hidden treasures as Paradiso restaurant for fine dining, the locally famous Loard's Ice Cream Parlor, the <br />always popular Porky's Pizza Palace, which is a large draw for local little league teams, Zocolo's Coffee <br />House, Ricky's Sports Bar, the Englander Pub and. as well as many other fine American and ethnic <br />eateries and local specialty shops. <br />Briefly describe any new retail development in your community <br />The renovation of Bayfair Center has brought with it new retailers and restaurants noted in the answer <br />above. Development of the Auto Mall has also brought with it new auto dealerships. <br />
