State Lobbyist - 2 <br />City: Oakland <br />Lobbyist: Townsend Public Affairs, Inc. <br />Purpose: Assisting with development of state legislative proposals, identifying <br />sponsors for bills, tracking legislation of interest to city, representing city's <br />position at hearings, developing correspondence to legislators, track state <br />grant proposals. <br />Accomplishments: We have successfully passed state legislation sponsored by city, track state <br />funding opportunities, amend legislation to benefit Oakland. <br />City: Berkeley <br />Lobbyist: Suter, Wallauch, Corbett & Associates <br />Purpose: Legislative advocacy; set up meetings with legislators; write letters of <br />support for bills; attend policy committee hearings <br />Accomplishments: Advocated for public health and welfare issues <br />Other clients include AC Transit, County of Alameda, ACCMA and <br />ACTIA <br />City: Hercules <br />Lobbyist: Joe Gonsalves & Son <br />Purpose: To track and represent city/agency on legislation; to pursue funding; to <br />connect city staff/elected officials with proper staff and elected official <br />representatives. <br />Accomplishments: Identified funding for our transit facility, directed our efforts on direct <br />lobbying with correct individuals, keep us informed as to pending <br />legislation and on going issues in Sacramento <br />Attached is a list, taken from the Secretary of State's website, of government organizations that <br />use lobbyists to represent their interests at the State level. An asterisk has been placed next to the <br />cities that are in the nine Bay Area counties. <br />
