Revised Ordinance for Peddlers, Solicitors
and Itinerant Merchants
Page 2 of 2
October 16, 2007
3. Finally, the Ordinance adds new clarifying definitions to various terms and references
used in the current policy such as:
a. Pushcart that is a piece of vending equipment easily moved by a person and
prohibited in the City of San Leandro;
b. Ice Cream Trucks which are permitted in the City of San Leandro must adhere
to the California Vehicle Code (CVC);
c. Trailer anon-motorized vehicle that is attached to a motorized vehicle and
allowed in the City of San Leandro, must also adhere to the CVC;
d. Ice Cream Peddler selling the frozen or refrigerated desserts/confections;
e. Handcart is a cart drawn or pushed by hand and prohibited in the City of San
Leandro; and
£ Dolly is a platform on rollers, wheels or coasters to move objects not allowed for
vending purposes in the City of San Leandro.
These proposed changes for PSIM's will ensure that the practice of enforcing administrative
policy are now stipulated in the Ordinance, definitions are clarified, and additional restrictions
are identified for business to be conducted in the City of San Leandro.
