Amendments to Zoning Code Land Use Definitions, Article 3
1-304 Definitions
REMOVE:
Restaurants/Cafes. Retail uses that provide food and/or beverages for either on- or off-site consumption,
including, but not limited to full-service restaurants, self-service (i.e., cafeteria style) restaurants,
coffeehouses, and ice cream/frozen yogurt parlors. This classification does not include Bars and Fast
Food Restaurants (see "Bars", "Restaurants, Fast Food" and "Restaurants, Fast Food, Small Scale.")
Restaurants, Fast Food. Restaurants that primarily offer quick, take-out food service, which is
accomplished through a menu of items that are either already prepared and held for service, or can be
assembled, prepared, fried, or griddled quickly. This classification differs from "Restaurants/Cafes" in that,
generally, orders are not taken at the customer's table, food is served in disposable wrapping or
containers and with disposable utensils, and seating, if provided, typically consists of fixed chairs or
benches. This classification excludes coffeehouses, ice cream/frozen yogurt parlors and other
food/beverage retailers within the "Restaurants/Cafes" classification. Also see "Restaurants, Fast Food,
Small Scale."
Restaurant, Fast Food, Small Scale. Restaurants conforming to the "Restaurants, Fast Food"
and non-disposable tableware. This classification does not include Bars, Fast Food Establishments, or
containers with disposable utensils; and limited or no table service is provided. Seating, if provided,
Typically consists of fixed chairs or benches. This classification excludes coffee and tea-houses, ice
