FOR PARATRANSIT SERVICES FOR JANUARY THROUGH JUNE 2008. SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends that the City Council approve the consulting services agreement with MV Transportation, Inc. for January through June 2008 paratransit services to be funded with Measure B Paratransit funds. The six month agreement will allow the contract to move to a fiscal year cycle. The contract provides the option to renew the agreement annually for three additional years. BACKGROUND Analysis The City issued an RFP for paratransit services. MV Transportation, Inc. is our current provider and submitted the only proposal. The proposal was deemed to meet all service requirements and staff recommends approval of the consulting services agreement with MV to provide paratransit services. The City has contracted with MV Transportation, Inc. since the service began as a pilot program in 2003. MV has consistently provided high quality service, they have been flexible to meet the changing needs of the program and have worked with staff to make the program successful. Ridership has increased 2,400% since the first quarter of service and continues to grow. MV has proposed the following changes in this contract period: 1. As expected, the hourly rate for the service has increased from $42.79 per hour to $48.26 per hour. The increase is due primarily to the increased cost of fuel, as well as the cost of new air quality compliant vehicles and increased employee benefit costs.
