City/SLUSD Liaison Committee Highlights <br />December 5, 2007 <br />Page 4 <br />Board Member Cassidy observed that Union City has decided to web-cast its Council <br />meetings, and suggested that the City might consider doing the same. Mayor Santos <br />pointed out that the City Council Chambers has severe limitations in terms of a video <br />broadcast, as identified when the issue was studied several years ago. <br />Councilmember Gregory stated that audio web-casts might be an option. He also <br />inquired if Safe Routes for school were developed for each school site and was informed <br />that the Engineering and Transportation Department had produced those for each school. <br />Mayor Santos commented that during the appointment of the City's Youth Advisory <br />Commission, he had reviewed applications and found that violence, crime and peer <br />pressure were universal concerns of the San Leandro applicants. He read three examples. <br />Board Member Cassidy requested that the Board be able to review the applications or <br />have a summary of the comments and where the Youth Commissioners were from. <br />Board President Davis reported that in January 2008, there will be a high school student <br />representative sitting on the school board. <br />8.
