MINUTE S <br />CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />JANUARY 8, 2008 <br />The Englander Sports Pub and Restaurant <br />101 Parrott Street <br />San Leandro, California <br />SPECIAL MEETING 5:34 PM <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />A. Roll Call <br />PRESENT: Members Grant, Gregory, Prola, Souza, Starosciak, Stephens; <br />Mayor Santos <br />ABSENT: None <br />2. BUSINESS ITEMS <br />A. Meeting with federal government liaison Len Simon to discuss funding opportunities <br />for City projects and programs. <br />Len Simon, the City's Federal Affairs Representative, discussed with the City Council <br />his firm's role; past efforts and successes in obtaining federal support and assistance for <br />City projects; and strategies for meeting with legislative representatives and their staffs <br />and other federal officials during the National League of Cities' Washington, D.C. <br />Conference in March. <br />Mr. Simon will work with City staff in developing a potential projects list for discussion <br />with federal representatives and officials. The Council will review the projects list and <br />narrow the projects to three for presentation in Washington, D.C. <br />3. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Lou Filipovich, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting on the <br />process. <br />
