Federal Funding Requests FY 09 3 February 4, 2008
As with previous requests, Simon and Company have suggested that re-submittal of previous
projects may be successfully funded in another round, in order to follow through project
completion. The Council may want to consider funding requests for those projects that have
previously been partially funded in order to finalize the project, however, project circumstances
change. For example, the Davis Street/880 Interchange will no longer have extensive Westgate
Interchange modifications and costs. The Marina Boulevard/880 Interchange, on the other hand,
still requires extensive local interchange improvements and has major projects pending, which
may make this a higher priority project. Additionally, efforts with the Marina dredging are
focusing on working with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers to complete this project within the
$1,669,000 currently allocated.
Mayor Santos recently returned from the U.S. Conference of Mayors where he lobbied for the
East Bay Regional Communications System (EBRCS), COPS grant funding, infrastructure
improvements, at-risk youth programs, and Energy Block Grants. Simon and Company's
January 29, 2008 "Washington Meetings Summary" is attached for further information.
Analysis
Not applicable.
Current City Council Policy
Not applicable.
Previous City Council Action(s)
Not applicable.
City Council Committee Review and Action
Not applicable.
Applicable General Plan Policy
Not applicable.
Permits and/or Variances Granted
Not applicable.
Environmental Review
Not applicable.
Code Compliance Review
Not applicable.
Board/Commission Findings
Not applicable.
Summary of Public Outreach Efforts
Not applicable.
Fiscal Impact
