Federal Funding REquests FY 09 2 February 4, 2008 <br />Davis/880 Interchange - $25 million project ($2.5 million for design); $600,000 allocated FY <br />OS (Stark); no funds received FY 08; Request $2 million (for design) FY 09. <br />Competition Swim Pool (Aquatics Center) - $3 million project; no previous allocation; <br />Request $2.5 million FY 09 (Alternative -request $1 million for SLHS community pool <br />renovation). <br />Public Safety Building Expansion - $2.75 million (project and design); no previous allocation <br />request; Request $2.5 million FY 09. <br />Transit Oriented District (TOD): San Leandro Boulevard/BART design - $250,000 to use <br />for a design study for this area; no previous allocation request; Request $250,000 FI' 09. <br />Marina Dredging - $2.5 million project; $675,000 ($500,000) allocated FY06 (Feinstein); <br />$500,000 earmark FY07 (Feinstein) eliminated; $1,169,000 allocated FY08 (Stark); $831,000 <br />shortfall FY09 (Corp of Engineers scoping project). <br />Regional Projects <br />Senator Feinstein indicates that she will only support "regional" projects. The following projects <br />warrant consideration. <br />East Bay Regional Communications System - $30 million project; no previous allocation <br />request; Request $30 million FY 09. <br />Marina Spine Construction (extension of Bay Trail from Marina Boulevard to Fairway <br />Drive) - $1.5 million project- no previous allocation request; Request $1.5 million FY 09. <br />Bay Trail Improvements (addition of rip rap) - $900,000 project; no previous allocation <br />request; Request $900,000 FI' 09. <br />Other Federal Fund Considerations <br />The following programs were identified by Len Simon as a potential source of federal funds in <br />the future. Staff will continue to develop programs should the funds become available for FY <br />2008-09. Council may wish to express support for funding of these programs. <br />At Risk Youtb Program (develop a pilot program with the school district to benefit at-risk <br />youth) -Request $500,000 FY 09. <br />Energy Efficiency Slock Grant -Potential source of federal funds for energy efficiency <br />programs and climate protection activities; more research is required to determine if funds will <br />be available for FY 2008-09. <br />COPS Grant -Potential source for luring of police officers may be available to cities; more <br />research is required to determine if funds will be available for FY 2008-09. <br />
