DRAFT MINUTES <br /> Page 11 <br />February 4, 2008 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting <br /> <br /> <br />Councilmember Starosciak reported that she attended the last CMA meeting in January. <br />At that meeting, she received a report that showed San Leandro had dropped to the <br />lowest in the county on the Pavement Index Survey. <br /> <br />B. Reports on Conferences and Seminars <br /> <br />Senator Boxer on foreclosures, and she received a report that she will forward to the <br />Council. At the meeting, other cities commented on the effect of foreclosures on their <br />communities. Vice Mayor Grant requested a report on foreclosures in San Leandro, and <br />particularly those affecting programs funded by the City. <br /> <br />C. Reports on City Council Committees <br /> <br />Accepted as submitted. <br />1. Finance Committee Meeting of January 15, 2008. <br /> <br />Recommendation for City Council Consideration: <br /> <br /> <br />a. Schedule approval of the increase in signature limits, provided there is <br />language included in the policy that will prohibit departments from entering <br />into several low dollar agreements with the same vendors to avoid having to <br />obtain either the City Manager or City Council approval. <br /> <br />By consensus, the City Council approved this recommendation. <br /> <br /> <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />Councilmember Gregory commented that at its meeting tomorrow night, the San Leandro <br />School Board will vote to make a $40,000 contribution to repair the San Leandro High School <br />(SLHS) pool. Councilmember Gregory offered congratulations to San Leandro Hospital for <br />being awarded a 5- <br />adjourned in memory of the mother of Wayne Deboe, the president of a Raider fan club and <br />the current Alameda Chapter President of the Red Cross. <br /> <br />Councilmember Souza hoped the San Leandro School District would consider the question of <br />Councilmember Souza hoped the City would communicate to the School District its intent to <br />discontinue maintenance of the SLHS pool, and stated that her priority is to the Washington <br />Manor competitive pool. Councilmember Souza reported that she made a contribution from <br />her Community Empowerment Funds to James Madison PTO for a multi-cultural event. She <br />requested that All Saints Episcopal Church be added to the list of Empowerment Fund <br />recipients. She commented that she will volunteer with KABOOM to build a playground in <br />Oakland. Councilmember Souza requested clarification on the current number of police <br />officers. She noted that Chief Attarian had requested nine additional sworn officers, including <br />a crime prevention officer, and she asked where we are in the process of adding these officers. <br /> <br /> <br />
