MINUTES Page 3 <br />Ciry of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-April 7, 2008 <br />REGULAR MEETING 7:00 PM-City Council Chambers <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:06 p.m. <br />A. Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag <br />Vice Mayor Grant led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br />B. Roll Call <br />PRESENT: Members Grant, Gregory, Prola, Souza, Starosciak, Stephens; <br />Mayor Santos <br />ABSENT: None <br />2. PRESENTATIONS/RECOGNITIONS <br />A. Recognition of the Employee of the Quarter, Glen Contreras, Building Supervisor, <br />Public Works Department. <br />Glen Contreras was present to receive his award. <br />B. Proclamation Declaring Apri12008 as "Fair Housing Month" in San Leandro. <br />Angie Watson-Hajjem, Fair Housing Specialist for ECHO Housing, accepted the Fair <br />Housing proclamation presented by Mayor Santos. Ms. Watson-Hajjem described the <br />Fair Housing Month activities planned for San Leandro. <br />C. Commendation Recognizing the Arroyo High School DECA (Distributive Education <br />Clubs of America) State Conference Winners for Their Outstanding Achievements in <br />Marketing Research. <br />Arroyo High School DECA Marketing Program Team members Nicole Albrecht, Alex <br />Ghiselli and Brianda Yanez, accepted the Commendation presented by Councilmember <br />Souza. DECA Advisor Christina Charlton thanked the City Council for their <br />acknowledgement of the Arroyo High DECA Program, and gave a brief history of <br />DECA and the Arroyo Program. Team Albrecht, Ghisseli and Yanez gave a short <br />presentation on the marketing plan for biodiesel fuel pumps at Chevron gas stations, <br />which won them third place overall at the State Conference. The team has been invited <br />to the International DECA Competition in Atlanta, Georgia, in April. <br />The Council wished the students good luck at the International competition in Atlanta. <br />
