and demolition debris recycling ordinance and the expansion of business recycling programs to <br />offer recycling of food waste to local restaurants. <br />The City of San Leandro receives approximately $85,000 annually from Waste Import <br />Mitigation grant funding for the purpose of implementing landfill diversion programs. The City <br />has used this funding to provide no-cost recycling and food recycling to businesses through our <br />hauler, Alameda County Industries. <br />The Alameda County Waste Management Authority has adopted new eligibility criteria for cities <br />to receive future allocations of Import Mitigation funding. As part of these new criteria, the City <br />must formally adopt a goal to divert waste from landfills by 75% by 2010. The City of San <br />Leandro will not receive future Import Mitigation funding if it does not adopt this goal by July 1, <br />2008. In addition, the City must adopt a Civic Green Building Ordinance by July 1, 2008 and a <br />Civic Bay Friendly Landscaping ordinance by July 1, 2009.
