We are hopeful that the grant will be approved and anxious to
implement the pilot project which will expand transportation options and provide same day
service to San Leandro paratranist riders.
The following program changes were completed in FY 2007-08:
• We received new 2008 vehicles for the service offering a much more comfortable
ride. The vehicles also comply with air quality standards which became effective
January 2008.
• Installed permanent signs for all shuttle stops.
• We found that some of our riders have difficulty making a telephone reservation due
to hearing loss. In response, we offered information and a workshop featuring the
California Telephone Access Program which provides specialized telephones and
assistive devices for the hearing impaired.
List separate vehicles that are lift/ramp equipped and those that are not. Specify "Lift",
"Ramp", or "None" in the "Capacity" column.
Type of

Vehicle,, L>tft/JEZa>rrrp
Equipment Capacity ~ambulaYory

and WheelchaicJ Number of

Vehicles ~~
contractor
rovided
2008 Lift 22 ambulatory 1 Contractor
Chevrolet passengers/up to 7 provided
HD Senator wheelchairs
Cutaway
Bus
2008 Ford Lift 8 ambulatory/2 2 Contractor
Sentinel wheelchair rovided
G:\Oliver\Paratransit\FY 2008-09\MB Annual Program Application Cover FY0809.doc
Page 4 of 18
