Discussion with Representatives from Creekside Community Church Regarding Faith <br />Community Involvement with the Community. <br />Kathy Greer from Creekside Community Church and Melinda How from Bay Area Chinese <br />Bible Church gave a report on "Love San Leandro Community Outreach." Every fall, a <br />group of volunteers from the faith community gather to do special projects in the community. <br />Last year, in one day, they had 250 volunteers and were able construct a storage building for <br />Building Futures with Women and Children, cleaned up the homes of some senior citizens, <br />washed all the windows for the seniors at the Fargo Senior Center, painted a meeting room at <br />Stepping Stones, and complete several other projects. The group has also participated in the <br />City's Shoreline Clean-up events. This year they anticipate as many as 400 volunteers for <br />their event on October 11, and they are asking if the City knows of any projects or needs in <br />the community the group could fulfill. <br />Mayor Santos reviewed the history of the Committee and how following September 11, when <br />the Committee was known as the Human Relations Committee, faith community <br />representatives came to the Committee meetings regularly. As racial tensions relaxed in the <br />region, attendance of faith community members dwindled away. <br />Committee members and staff discussed possible opportunities in the community, such as <br />senior and disabled residents who have inquired about minor home repairs, the Senior <br />
