EXHIBIT A <br />SCOPE OF WORK <br />Term of Contract: July 1, 2008 -June 30, 2009 <br />Agency: San Leandro Public Library Foundation <br />Address: 300 Estudillo Avenue, San Leandro, CA 94577 <br />Contact Person: Nancy Fong or Cinda Mariscal <br />Phone: 510-577-3947 or (510) 577-3944 <br />Project Name: Project Literacy <br />PROJECT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES <br />• Project Literacy will promote adult, youth and family literacy through tutoring, community outreach, <br />volunteerism and collaborative partnerships. Project Literacy will provide free literacy support services <br />and community outreach to the functionally illiterate population. Specifically, the program will provide <br />tutoring, a Computer Lab, and the Families for Literacy program. <br />• Low/moderate income individuals wi[I gain literacy skills that they can apply in social, educational, <br />employment, and community settings, thereby increasing their independence and self sufficiency. <br />MAJOR ACTIVITIES <br />Project Literacy will provide on a year-round schedule: <br />• One-on-one tutoring, Instructional Computer Lab (computer stations with instructional literacy and <br />reading software which tutors and students may use for one-on-one learning sessions), Families for <br />Literacy services, and community outreach sites with open-entry/open-exit accessibility; <br />• Convenience-based schedule/location; <br />Client customized and learner-centered curriculum; and, <br />• Two to three volunteer tutor trainings. <br />TIMELINE5 <br />By October, 1, 2008, Project Literacy wilt have accomplished: <br />4,800 tutor hours will be provided.50 students will be served. <br />By January 1, 2009, Project Literacy will have accomplished: <br />4,800 tutor hours will be provided. <br />50 students will be served. <br />-13- <br />CDBG Agreement with Project Literacy FY08-09 <br />G:ICOMMUNITY DEVELOPMENTIHOUSING SERVICES DIVISIONICDBGISUBRECIPIENTSIProject Literacy1FY2008-09108-09 Proj.
