appropriate to carry out the purpose and intent of this Resolution, the City Charter, Municipal Code and Ordinances of the City of San Leandro as they pertain to the conduct of the Special Runoff Election. SECTION 3. The City Council of the City of San Leandro hereby requests that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Alameda permit the consolidation of the City's Special Municipal Runoff Election with the Statewide General Election to be held on November 4, 2008 and direct the Alameda County Registrar of Voters to provide all necessary services related to said election and to bill the City for the cost of conducting said election. The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute an agreement for such services if an agreement is required by the County. SECTION 4. All persons qualified to vote at elections in said City of San Leandro upon the date of the election herein provided for shall be qualified to vote for the office of City Councilmember, District 2 at said Special Municipal Runoff Election. SECTION 5. The polls will be open between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on said day of election, and no ballots shall be received after the proclamation that the polls are closed (except as provided in Section 14401 of the Elections Code). SECTION 6. The Alameda County Registrar of Voters shall proceed and conduct the canvass of the results of said election in accordance with the provisions of the Elections Code, and shall deliver to the City of San Leandro the certification of the official results of said election. SECTION 7. The City Council shall, as soon as practicable thereafter, meet and declare the results of said election.
