CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />CITY COUNCIL FACILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE <br />July 1, 2008 <br />4:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m. <br />San Leandro City Hall <br />835 E. 14th Street <br />San Leandro, California <br />Sister Cities Gallery <br />HIGHLIGHTS <br />Committee Members: Mayor Tony Santos, Chair, Councilmember Diana Souza, <br />Councilmember Joyce Starosciak <br />City Staff Present: Reh-Lin Chen, Keith Cooke, John Jermanis, Ken Joseph, Maureen <br />O'Callaghan, Uche Udemezue <br />Public Present: Charles Gilcrest, Linda Perry <br />The meeting was called to order at 4:07 p.m. <br />1. Discussion Regarding San Leandro Boulevard / West Broadmoor / Park and <br />Neighborhood Traffic Issues <br />Keith Cooke gave a PowerPoint presentation regarding Traffic Safety Related Projects; San <br />Leandro Boulevard /West Broadmoor /Park and Neighborhood Traffic Issues. He explained <br />that staff is looking at ways to reduce the number of traffic conflicts by introducing asemi- <br />roundabout alternative and working with the City of Oakland to find the most plausible <br />solution. <br />Discussion ensued. Keith reviewed Timothy Drive traffic safety improvements. He <br />explained that staff has worked directly with businesses in the area and has received all <br />positive feedback with plans. John Jermanis explained that long term this will be a <br />beautification project. Mayor Santos commented that it would be nice to look at putting in a <br />park on one side of the road. <br />Vehicle Feedback Signs were discussed. Keith explained that they are getting ready to be <br />installed and that the bids allowed for four more streets to be added to the list. Locations for <br />the signs are all near schools and residential streets. Councilmember Starosiak commented <br />that it would be nice to have them up before school starts. Ken Joseph commented that it <br />will all be part of the Safe Routes to School Project. <br />
