She commended the Police and Fire Departments for <br />their presence at the Summit and for disseminating information on the fireworks ban in San <br />Leandro. Resident Benny Lee volunteered to place closure signs at the entrance to the <br />marshlands on July 4th. Councilmember Starosciak requested a report from the Police <br />th <br />Department on the July 4 fireworks enforcement. She reported that she and <br />Councilmember Souza walked neighborhoods with three Alameda County firefighters, <br />handing out flyers about the fireworks ban.Councilmember Starosciak commented that she <br />attended the r. On July 18, Councilmember <br />Starosciak will be meeting with Alameda County Flood Control to walk the flood control <br />channel, and will extend the invitation to the Councilmembers for Districts 2 and 3. She will <br />son is on the Washington Manor All-Star team <br />and will play for the State Championship this weekend. <br />Councilmember Stephens thanked the Police Chief and City Manager for their efforts to step <br />up enforcement at McCartney Park, and to the City Manager for his comments regarding the <br />problems at Siempre Verde Park. Councilmember Stephens commented that his constituents <br />. <br /> <br />Councilmember Prola commented that he attended the meeting on the proposed dog park, <br />th <br />and stated for the record that he supports it. He attended the 5 Anniversary of Aloha Pet <br />Services, the ribbon cutting at San Leandro Hospital, the grand opening of Energy Recovery <br />Incorporated, and the Ethics Training . Councilmember Prola <br />suggested that the presence of a park ranger might improve the situation at Siempre Verde <br />Park. <br />Mayor Santos commented that he would like the Siempre Verde Park issue to be referred to <br />the City Council Facilities and Transportation Committee. Mayor Santos announced that he <br />will be leaving for the Azores tomorrow on a Sister City visit. Mayor Santos also announced <br />adjourned in memory of Michael Harter, a retired City <br />employee, who was instrumental in bringing computers to the City; in memory of Walter <br />Thomas Wright, a former San Leandro police officer, who retired after suffering an <br />aneurysm and stroke at the age of 38; in memory of Ben Laxamana, a long time San Leandro <br />resident, who recently retired from the City after 11 years; <br />and Gladys Marr, mother of Board of Zoning Adjustments Member Melody Marr. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
