Councilmember Starosciak commented that she and Councilmember Souza attended the th annual Holy Ghost Parade, and she noted that next year will be their 100 Anniversary. Councilmember Starosciak reported that she held a recent Security Summit, inviting homeowner associations to participate. She commended the Police and Fire Departments for their presence at the Summit and for disseminating information on the fireworks ban in San Leandro. Resident Benny Lee volunteered to place closure signs at the entrance to the marshlands on July 4th. Councilmember Starosciak requested a report from the Police th Department on the July 4 fireworks enforcement. She reported that she and Councilmember Souza walked neighborhoods with three Alameda County firefighters, handing out flyers about the fireworks ban.Councilmember Starosciak commented that she attended the r. On July 18, Councilmember Starosciak will be meeting with Alameda County Flood Control to walk the flood control channel, and will extend the invitation to the Councilmembers for Districts 2 and 3. She will son is on the Washington Manor All-Star team and will play for the State Championship this weekend. Councilmember Stephens thanked the Police Chief and City Manager for their efforts to step up enforcement at McCartney Park, and to the City Manager for his comments regarding the problems at Siempre Verde Park. Councilmember Stephens commented that his constituents . Councilmember Prola commented that he attended the meeting on the proposed dog park, th and stated for the record that he supports it. He attended the 5 Anniversary of Aloha Pet Services, the ribbon cutting at San Leandro Hospital, the grand opening of Energy Recovery Incorporated, and the Ethics Training . Councilmember Prola suggested that the presence of a park ranger might improve the situation at Siempre Verde Park. Mayor Santos commented that he would like the Siempre Verde Park issue to be referred to the City Council Facilities and Transportation Committee. Mayor Santos announced that he will be leaving for the Azores tomorrow on a Sister City visit. Mayor Santos also announced adjourned in memory of Michael Harter, a retired City employee, who was instrumental in bringing computers to the City; in memory of Walter Thomas Wright, a former San Leandro police officer, who retired after suffering an aneurysm and stroke at the age of 38; in memory of Ben Laxamana, a long time San Leandro resident, who recently retired from the City after 11 years; and Gladys Marr, mother of Board of Zoning Adjustments Member Melody Marr.
