Proposed Police Services Parcel Tax 3 July 28, 2008 <br />Senior Property Owners <br />A 40% discount for low-income senior property owners is included in the Ordinance. An index, <br />such as PG&E's CARE program maximum annual income limits, is recommended to determine <br />qualification. <br />Number of Persons in 1-2 3 Each Additional <br />Household Person <br />Total Combined $29,300 $34,400 $7,100 <br />Annual Income <br />CommerciaUIndustrial Tax Rates <br />These rates are based on the parcel size in order to facilitate administration. <br />• $12.00 per 1,000 sq. ft. (or $.012 per square foot) for commerciaUindustrial properties. <br />• $10.00 per 1,000 sq. ft. (or $.010 per square foot) for non-profit educational use and <br />places of worship. <br />Unimproved Land Tax Rate <br />Properties classified as unimproved by the Alameda County Tax Assessors Office shall be <br />charged 25% of the commerciaUindustrial rate. <br />$3.00 per 1,000 sq. ft. (or $.003 per sq. ft.) <br />Annual inflation adjustments based on the percentage increase, if any, in the Consumer Price <br />Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers ("CPI-W") for the San Francisco Bay Area <br />published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics -All Urban Consumers, are also proposed in <br />the Ordinance to ensure that the tax supports the same general level of police services over its <br />lifespan. <br />Comparison to the Proposed Tax in 2004 <br />It is estimated that the parcel tax proposed for November 2008 would generate approximately <br />$2.6 million in revenue for police services.
