~endix D
Summary of Peer Agencies' Feedback
Comments are listed exactly as given on each individual's survey. A blank line separates
each person's comments. Six out of 6 of the peer agencies contacted, responded. This
survey was confidential so individual comments are not connected with specific
respondents. However, a few comments include identifying information. We did not
modify those comments to disguise the author since this would have compromised
message and the comment was not controversial or sensitive in any way.
Survey Date: 3108
~: ` Peec`' enc Sarve :-Perce bons of llavis Street Famil Resource Center
How would you describe DSFRC's mission and the services they offer?
I believe that DSFRC is a multiservice agency providing concrete assistance like food and clothes as well
as case management and FES programs like VITA
Food, clothes, employment, social and medical services for those in need in the local community
I have an unfair advantage. I have the Big Blue Book at my disposal and know very well the scope of Davis
Street's services. We refer people to Davis Street all the time primarily for food, clothing household items,
childcare payment program, counseling, employment assistance and the health clinic.
Same as Kidango's except more of a focus in San Leandro
DSFRC is an omnibus center, serving a variety of needs. In general, there is an anti-poverty and health
focus, but DSFRC has a widespread collection of services
The mission is to provide childcare and emergency services to low-income, working poor in San Leandro
and the surrounding "Eden" area. Services include emergency food, clothing, medical clinics, and childcare
vouchers, subsidized and private pay afterschool care, and access to counseling.
What is our im ression of DSFRC in the areas of:
Quality of services provided (please include a description of how you came to have this opinion).
Honestly I haven't heard much (either negative or positive) about the DSFRC, but my contact with
management and supervisory staff has been positive.
Excellent. I have had patients within my practice who lost their jobs and/or insurance and had to seek
care at Davis Street and found them very helpful.
We have been referring people to Davis Street for years and I have never heard any staff member tell
me directly, or indirectly in a meeting, that there were problems with Davis Street. The agency and
staff are held in the highest esteem.
Davis Street is a maturing organization where the spirit of quality is present and there is a need to
identif issues such as terrible voice mail.
Sustainabi]ity Study: Davis Street Family Resource Center-4/08 Page 83 of 96
