At our invitation, select staff and board members participated in a one-day fund development workshop hosted by the Foundation in early December 2007 so we have been in touch. Excellent The mission of Davis Street is to help low-income people of the Eden area and its surrounding communities improve their quality of life through short and long-term assistance. Over the years the agency has intentionally developed into a comprehensive family resource center, delivering a broad array of integrated support services that are flexible and adaptive to the needs of individuals and families. These services and supports include: low cost and subsidized childcare; food and clothing assistance; parenting classes; mentoring programs and peer support groups; computer, ESL, and literacy classes; acute medical and dental care at its own in-house clinic; mental health counseling; job training and placement assistance; and family economic literacy programs. DSFRC is truly a comprehensive resource center, providing a range of services to vulnerable populations at no cost -from food and childcare to medical and oral healthcare. The co-location of services is a huge plus as it serves the multiple needs of families in one location. We think that this "family resource center" model is particularly effective because it provides a holistic, integrated approach to meeting complex and dynamic family needs.
