MINUTES Page 5
City of San Leandro Ciry Council, San Leandro Hillside Geologic Hazard Abatement District, and San Leandro
Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting~Tuly 21, 2008
business was closed in 2006. However, Mr. Tan was notified by the property owner
that the business owes the City about $3,000 in license fees. Mr. Tan provided
documentation regarding the business owner's immigration status.
There being no further comments from the public, and without objection, the Public
Hearing was closed.
Mr. Jermanis suggested that the four businesses that raised issues relating to business
license fees be removed from the list of properties to be liened. The Finance
Department staff will meet with them to verify the information and make adjustments
to the amounts levied. Mr. Jermanis noted that the City received many complaints
from neighbors about Mr. Lio's oversized vehicles, and the City had attempted to
work with him on a number of occasions, and police had made several contacts. Staff
feels that Mr. Lio had been sufficiently notified, and had ample time to comply with
the ordinance. Regarding Ms. Kent, Mr. Jermanis recommended that her property be
removed from the list, and Housing and Finance staff will meet with her to determine
what can be done to assist her.
• Resolution No. 2008-080, Resolution Overruling Protests (Solid Waste
Service Charges, Sewer Service Charges, Community Compliance Code
Violation Penalties and/or Weed Abatement Charges, and Business License and
West San Leandro Shuttle Business Improvement District Fees) (overrules
protests or objections made by owners or persons in possession of certain
properties).
