IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION NO.2008- <br />RESOLUTION COMMENDING SHELIA YOUNG <br />AND DESIGNATING HER MAYOR EMERITUS <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Shelia Young served as Mayor of the City of San Leandro from 1998 - 2006; <br />WHEREAS, Ms. Young was the only female Mayor to serve two complete terms in office <br />in the history of San Leandro, and she carried out those duties with zeal, loyalty and skill, bringing <br />to fruition countless projects and civic improvements that have benefitted all who live, work and <br />visit San Leandro; and <br />WHEREAS, Ms. Young strengthened City relationships with local business leaders, school <br />officials, nonprofit organizations, outside legislative officials, and regional and national entities, <br />reinforcing San Leandro's reputation and good standing as an active, forward-thinking community; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, through these associations and her representation of the City of San Leandro <br />on several regional and national boards, agencies and committees, Ms. Young positioned the City <br />of San Leandro to receive numerous grants and funding resources enabling the City to accomplish <br />numerous important civic improvements; and <br />WHEREAS, throughout her years of dedicated service to the City of San Leandro , Ms. <br />Young presided over one of the largest building periods in San Leandro's history, always keeping <br />the best interests of the community as her goal; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Leandro would like to honor Shelia Young in recognition of <br />her leadership, political expertise, enthusiasm and dedication to the improvement of the quality of <br />life in San Leandro. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as <br />follows: <br />In recognition of the foregoing, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does hereby <br />commend Shelia Young for her years of dedicated service, and bestows upon her the title of Mayor <br />Emeritus with all benefits such title carries and with respect and admiration from the City she has <br />served so well. <br />Introduced by Councilmember and passed and adopted this <br />6th day of October 2008 by the following called vote: <br />
