' NORTH FIELD FLIGHT ROUTE/PATTERN RESEARCH GROUP (North Field Research Group) Noise Abatement Options Review - 2008 On March 13, 2008, the North Field Research Group (NFRG) held their quarterly meeting. During this meeting it was suggested that the NFRG appoint a working group to update the NFRG Work Plan and noise abatement options review. Two representatives from the community, representatives from the Airport and representatives from the consultant team were selected. The membership agreed upon the representatives and it was finalized before the meeting was adjourned. On May 13, 2008, the NFRG representatives met to review the noise abatement options and to .develop an updated work plan, which would be presented to the full membership ~w for approval and forwarded to the Noise Forum for adoption. The attendees included: David Needle, Alameda resident; Kathy Ornelas, City of San Leandro representative; ~'~'"`"'` ~~0 James Trickel, Acting North Field Manager; Larry Galindo, Noise/Environmental Affairs ~~`I'~ Supervisor; Wayne Bryant, Senior Airport Noise Abatement Specialist; Harvey ~ L Hartmann, Port of Oakland Air Traffic Consultant; and Vince Mestre, Noise Forum Technical Consultant. The NFRG representatives reviewed the original noise abatement options list and .categorized the options. They also developed recommendations far a new Active Work Plan based upon recently identified research projects or concepts and the original list of 25 noise mitigation measures. (The original list was established in brainstorming sessions during the initial-meetings of the NFRG in 1997/98.) These representatives reviewed the original brainstorming list to eliminate those items deemed inappropriate for further consideration. A final list of research options was established and the items were organized in a manner to most effectively manage NFRG efforts and the current or future work plans. This report will also document and memorialize the efforts of the North Field Research Group. At the June 11, 2008 meeting of the NFRG, the membership will consider and act upon the following recommendations: Recommendation 1. That this report be finalized and accepted as documentation of the NFRG's efforts to date and be accepted as the historical record of the organization's decision-making in regards to screening noise abatement options. Recommendation 2. That Section A (Active Work Plan) be accepted as the current work plan and prioritized as read in this document. Recommendation 3. That Section A be extracted as a stand-alone document and used as the current work plan guide and forwarded to the Noise Forum membership for approval.
