City of San Leandro <br />Community Benefit RFP <br />General Information <br />Page II-1 <br />Community Benefit Grant Funds <br />Request for Proposals <br />2008-09 <br />SECTION I <br />Program Guidelines <br />It is the practice of the City of San Leandro to support community programs and projects which are <br />designed to enhance the quality of life of individuals and families living in San Leandro. Funding <br />guidelines are described below: <br />Eligible Programs <br />Communitywide Events <br />Communitywide events that benefit a large number of individuals living in San Leandro. <br />Cultural Arts Programs <br />Cultural arts programs that enhance and/or broaden the scope of cultural opportunities for San <br />Leandro residents. <br />Special Programs <br />Special programs that are of benefit to the community, but are smaller in size and scope. <br />Evaluation Criteria <br />• Nonprofit community-based organizations serving San Leandro residents may seek City <br />support. This includes programs that currently receive funding from the City as well as <br />those that currently do not. There is no guarantee that funding will be provided to any <br />particular applicant. <br />• Programs that benefit more than one group or segment of the population and reach greatest <br />number of San Leandro residents will be given funding priority. <br />• Applicants applying for City funding shall be asked to describe how the programs being <br />proposed are similar to, differ from and/or compliment similar programs operated by other <br />organizations serving San Leandro residents, and how these programs may be coordinated. <br />• Applicant can demonstrate effective outreach to the community. <br />• Proposed program will enhance community identity and spirit, improve the quality of life <br />and broaden the scope of cultural opportunities for San Leandro residents. <br />• Other Considerations: <br />o Quality of program <br />o Overall program design <br />o Program changes or improvements made to currently funded programs <br />o Leveraging of funds <br />o Administrative cost <br />o Fiscal management capabilities <br />o Record keeping and reporting capacity <br />o Past performance (if applicable) <br />o Completeness, accuracy, and quality of proposal package <br />
