CITY OF SAN LEANDRO
STAFF REPORT
DATE: October 9, 2008
TO: Stephen L. Hollister, Interim City Manager
FROM: Michael Bakaldin, Public Works Director
SUBJECTlDESCRIPTION:
APPROVED AND
FORWARDED
TO CITY COUNCIL
/~- .~
~•
Stephen L. Hollister
City Manager
RESOLUTION AMENDING TITLE 12, CHAPTER 8 OF THE SAN LEANDRO
ADMINISTRATIVE CODE RELATING TO STREET TREE POLICY
SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt a resolution to amend and update Title 12, Chapter
8 of the Administrative Code relating to Street Tree Policy and Procedure ("Tree Policy").
BACKGROUND
Currently, the Tree Policy delegates discretion to the City Manager to determine when unusual
hardship circumstances exist for street tree removal, which is in conflict with the municipal code,
which delegates that authority to the Public Works Director. The proposed amendment would
align the tree policy with the municipal code and delegate this authority to the Public Works
Service Director. The resolution also clarifies language related to removal where a tree is
causing confirmed sewer problems.
Previous City Council Action(s)
N/A
City Council Committee Review and Action
N/A
Applicable General Plan Policy
N/A
Permits and/or Variances Granted
N/A
Environmental Review
N/A
