Commissioner D. Reed expressed her disappointment in the owner's plan to convert the
Blacksmith Shop and Carriage House cottages to rental units. She said the Commission
believed this was going to be a single family home and the Gardner's Cottage used as the
owner's business office. Chair Kaplan said she shares Commissioner D. Reed's
disappointment.
Mr. Bolinger said the building inspector will look at the interiors of the cottages. Chair
Kaplan said interior inspection is not the concern of this Commission. We are charged
with reviewing proposed exterior changes to a Landmark property. Other than changing
the window size to meet the code requirement, if the historical appearance of the property
is not altered, Chair Kaplan said she does not have a reason to oppose Dr. Friend's
proposal.
It was MSC (U.Reed/Rinaldi) to approve Dr. Friend's request to convert the Carriage
House and Blacksmith's Shop to residences, for referral to the Planning Division for
review.
END OF EXCERPTS OF MINUTES
-2-
