Peterson, Administrative ervices Mane SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION FOR LOCAL GRANT FUNDS FROM THE EAST BAY REGIONAL PARK DISTRICT UNDER MEASURE WW, THE PARK BOND EXTENSION SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends applying for $3,740,998 in Measure WW grant funds from the East Bay Regional Park District for the acquisition and development of park and recreation lands and facilities in San Leandro. BACKGROUND In November 2008, Alameda County voters passed Measure WW, an extension of the Measure AA grant program, allocating another $125,000,000 to regional and local agencies for the acquisition and development of park and recreation lands and facilities within Alameda County. Each qualified agency within the County is eligible for funding based on population. With a 2008 population of 81,851, the City of San Leandro is eligible for $3,740,998 in grant funds. Analysis The East Bay Regional Park District (the "District") is administering the Measure WW Local Grant Program and has set the procedures for the program. Among the requirements of the program is the passage of a resolution by the City Council authorizing the City of San Leandro to enter into a Master Contract with the District. Once the resolution is authorized, City staff will execute a Master Contract with the District. Once the Master Contract is fully executed, the City can apply for specific project funds. Applications for funds can be submitted to the District between February 1 and March 31 of each year during the term of the program. tephen Hollister City Manager
