3
Ann & Bob Neal
1400 Carpentier Street, #135
San Leandro, CA 94577
January 26, 2009
Mayor Tony Santos and City Council Members
Chair Tam Dlugosh and Planning Commissioners
City of San Leandro
835 East 14m Street
San Leandro, CA 94577
Re: San Leandro Crossings Support
Dear San Leandro City Council and Planning Commission Members:
This letter is to express our support for the San Leandro Crossings project. Please note that I could not say that
after the developer's initial presentation. However, we were pleasantly surprised when Art May and the
development team showed us their architect's new plan. We met with Art several times over the last couple
months and showed him our concerns here at Pacific Plaza . He listened and worked with us and came up with a
plan to minimize our impacts.
Carpentier is a one-way street and currently has too much traffic The Crossing's project initially had both
garage entrances on our street. The development team agreed to move one of the entrances to W. Juana, but still
had a second entrance on Carpentier. We have now learned that the second entrance, which was located on
Carpentier, near W. Joaquin, will now be located on W. Juana, alongside the other garage entrance. As you can
imagine, we are very interested in this, because these changes will ease the traffic impacts on Carpentier.
Art also suggested we meet with the City's Engineers to discuss cutting back the extension of sidewalk in front of
our building to provide a better loading zone, as well as other problems we are experiencing around our property.
We met with Keith Cooke and Reh-Lin Chen and they agc~eed to work with us on making several modifications.
Thank you for having such wonderful staff.
Again, we want to express our appreciation to this team. They have been very cooperative, considerate to our
opinions, all of which have been very much appreciated.
Sincerely,
~~w ~~-~-
Ann & Bob Neal
Cc: Art May
