HDA/LE~E~i~~ <br />S I N C E <br /> <br />Mayor Tony Santos and City Council Members <br />Chair Tom Dlugosh and Planning Commissioners <br />City of San Leandro <br />835 East 14~' Street <br />San Leandro, CA 94577 <br />Dear San Leandro City Council and Planning Commission Members: <br />2l~l0`~ <br />As the owner of FH Dailey Motor Company located at 800 Davis Street in San Leandro and as an <br />immediate neighbor to the San Leandro Crossings project, I am writing to strongly support the project and <br />to encourage the Planning Commission and City Council to approve it. <br />F.H. Dailey has operated in our current location for over 22 years. San Leandro is our home and we care <br />about its future. As a neighbor to the Crossings, it is important that the project be well designed <br />architecturally and that the site plan and landscaping are attractive. We have reviewed the plans and <br />believe that the developers are proposing a project that will be a great benefit to our area. <br />While we have heard concerns regarding the proposed 100 units of affordable housing, we understand <br />that affordable housing is in great demand in the community and we understand that Bridge Housing has <br />a great reputation for the way they operate their communities and the way they screen their prospective <br />tenants. We also understand that the developers plan to build up to 400 additional market rate housing <br />units as part of future phases. Therefore, we are confident that they will be proactive to ensure that Phase <br />I is a success. <br />The properties the developers are proposing to develop have been vacant for many years. We believe it <br />makes sense to encourage development near the BART station and we believe that the developers are <br />doing everything to comply with the City's requirements for the area.
