City of San Leandro -Business Services - 08-09 <br />Page 2 of 3 ' <br />The above two initial steps will provide the baseline information necessary to carry out the <br />work in 2009-2010 of developing the Industrial Strategy. <br />Chamber of Commerce Industrial Development Mission <br />Long-term Strategy Implementation <br />Viewing the Strategy development and implementation process over the long term, below <br />are some of the elements (priorities to be established as the strategy is developed, and <br />modified as implementation and market conditions determine)) that could be integral to <br />and/or complimentary of that strategy: <br />1. Develop, by business area, a detailed economic profile/census of the companies, <br />creating a San Leandro industrial economic enterprise baseline for both benefits <br />analysis and marketing purposes; <br />2. Support businesses' growth and expansion; assist capacity development to <br />compete at all levels of the marketplace - "Local to Global". <br />3. Serve as a clearing house for companies to secure services to make all aspects of <br />their operations lean and environmentally sound; <br />4. Develop a "Local Sourcing" program to encourage purchasing of parts, supplies, <br />services, etc. from San Leandro companies wherever possible; <br />5. Where appropriate, augment the neighborhood focus with industry sector (eg., <br />food processors) and cluster (food processors, their suppliers and customers) <br />initiatives. <br />6. Recruit new industrial business plan; <br />7. As an integral part of the recruitment program, develop strategies to focus on <br />green technology and environmentally-focused companies best suited for the <br />City (complementary to the East Bay Green Corridor initiative); <br />8. Develop along-term marketing campaign to sustain the business attraction <br />program; <br />9. Create an infrastructure capital improvement program to maintain and improve <br />San Leandro's position as a premier 21St century industrial center; <br />IO.Work with companies, educational institutions and employment training and <br />placement entities to maximize local job opportunity competitiveness; <br />11.Utilize the Internet extensively to implement the above strategies and programs. <br />
