Accepted as submitted. <br />Finance Committee Meeting of February 17, 2009. Accepted as submitted. <br />Councilmember Souza commented that she disagrees with the idea of allowing a <br />Councilmember to use the unexpended travel funds of another Councilmember. <br />Recommendation for City Council Consideration: <br />a. Schedule approval of annual report for Development Fees for Street <br />Improvements (DFSI) and Park Development Fees. <br />By consensus, the City Council approved this recommendation. <br />4. Finance Committee Meeting of February 24, 2009. Accepted as submitted. <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMII~NTS <br />Councilmember Reed expressed excitement about the ability to participate in meetings by <br />teleconference. <br />Councilmember Prola reported that he and Councilmember Gregory attended the March 5 <br />meeting of the San Leandro Sports Foundation. The Foundation was optimistic about raising <br />money for the sports complex at Burrell Field. He attended the crab feeds of the Lions Club <br />on March 7 and the Wah Sung Community Service Club on March 14. Proceeds from the <br />latter go towards scholarships. He also attended the police recognition ceremony at City Hall <br />on March 13 with Mayor Santos. An award was presented to Connie Stephens of Citizens for <br />a Safer San Leandro. Councilmember Prola commented that he has heard concerns from the <br />community regarding the closing of the libraries, particularly the Mulford-Marina Branch and <br />South Branch. These two branches are important to the older residents who cannot visit the <br />Manor Branch or the Main Library. He expressed hope that hours could be reduced equally <br />among the branches. <br />Vice Mayor Bill Stephens commented that he participated in the Dr. Seuss Readin~ <br />Appreciation Week at McKinley Elementary School on March 9. He walked down East 14 <br />Street and visited the library on this past Saturday. He commented that the library was well- <br />stocked and well-managed, but he observed that it was not very busy. <br />Mayor Santos attended the fundraiser at McKinley Elementary School on Friday night. <br />Mayor Santos announced that tonight's meeting would be adjourned in memory of Steven <br />Wayne Dicochea, Jr., who served two tours of combat in Iraq with the Marines as a military <br />policeman; Barbara Mary Cayere, wife of former Library-Historical Commissioner Paul <br />Cayere; and Dolores Marie Prola, mother of Councilmember Prola. <br />
