CITY COUNCIL REPORTS <br /> <br /> <br />A.Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br /> <br />Councilmember Reed reported on a meeting of the Alameda County Housing <br />Authority. The Housing Commissioners requested the race and ethnicity breakdown of <br />Section 8 housing clients, and she shared this information with the Council. <br /> <br />Councilmember Starosciak reported on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project Study <br />Group, which is now holding monthly meetings. The group has requested that the <br />Alameda County Congestion Management Agency (CMA) take over the administration <br />of the process. Councilmember Starosciak commented that she would not be able to <br />attend the League of California Cities Legislative Action Days. She reported on the <br />CMA, noting that in its 2008 Annual Report, reported accidents were reduced for all <br />highways except 238, which had a 37% increase in accidents along the corridor. She <br />noted the dangerous conditions that exist at the I-880/I-238 interchange, and requested <br />that Mayor Santos bring it up to the Alameda County Transportation Improvement <br />Authority (ACTIA). Councilmember Starosciak reported that members of the City <br />Council Airport Committee met with the Port Aviation Committee, and commented on <br />some good energy savings projects that are underway. <br /> <br />Mayor Santos reported on a meeting of the Alameda County Waste Management <br />Agency Board, at which new legal counsel was selected, and he commented that certain <br /> than others. Mayor Santos reported on the <br />meetings of the East Bay Dischargers Authority. <br /> <br /> <br />B.Reports on Conferences and Seminars <br /> <br />Councilmember Starosciak recent trip to the National League <br />of Cities (NLC) Conference in Washington, D.C. She commented that she is most <br />excited about the positive meeting related to <br />Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) funding. <br /> <br />Councilmember Gregory reported on the NLC Conference, including information on <br />the COPS funding and a tour of a Transit Oriented Development (TOD) project in <br />Bethesda, Maryland. <br /> <br />Councilmember Souza reported on the NLC Conference, and thanked Councilmember <br />Starosciak for her leadership on their trip.
