MINUTES Page 10 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-Apri16, 2009 <br />the DSFRC and a recipient of its services, and she urged the Council's approval of the <br />$500,000 funding commitment. <br />Dominque Johnson, San Leandro resident. addressed the City Council, commenting on <br />the valuable services provided by the DSFRC for her family. <br />Eowyn Gorman, Executive Director for Family Services Counseling Center. addressed <br />the City Council, thanking the Council for its support for non-profit social service agencies in <br />the community. Ms. Gorman commented on the importance of the services provided by the <br />DSFRC and the investment the Council would be making with its $500,000 contribution. <br />Councilmember Souza thanked the audience members for participating in tonight's meeting. <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Souza, to adopt the resolution with an amendment, <br />adding the following: 1) DSFRC meet with the current property owner to renegotiate the <br />existing purchase price of $2.5 million; 2) DSFRC obtain a current appraisal of the property; <br />and 3) DSFRC provide the City with a realistic schedule to close on the acquisition including <br />anticipated dates they will secure all fmancing; and 4) the funding commitment would be <br />effective for six months. <br />The motion died for lack of a second. <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Starosciak, seconded by Councilmember Prola, to <br />adopt the resolution as written. Councilmember Starosciak suggested that staff research the <br />issues that were raised by Councilmember Souza, and address her concerns at the time when <br />this matter comes back for further discussion. <br />Resolution No. 2009-051, Resolution Committing $500,000 to Assist Davis Street <br />Family Resource Center (DSFRC) with Acquisition of the Property Located at 3081 <br />Teagarden Street (authorizes the City Manager to identify the appropriate City or other <br />public funding source for future Council consideration).
