Minutes -City of San Leandro City Council and Page 4
San Leandro Redevelopment Agency joint Meeting -March 1,1999
Council Member Loeffler commented on a report from the San Leandro
Unified School District regarding demographic data, which he feels has
implications on Parks and Recreation use. He asked if this report will be going
to the Recreation and Parks Commission for input. The City Manager
responded that the report is currently being reviewed by staff, and it will be
forwarded to the Recreation and Parks Commission for their input.
Council Member Loeffier concluded with remarks regarding his attendance at
the Welfare-to-Work Town Hall Meeting in Oakland with Vice President Al
Gore. He thanked the Mayor for inviting him to attend, as well as staff for
their hard work and efforts toward this program.
2. Council Member Lothrop commented on last Friday's Airport Ad Hoc
Committee Meeting regarding various issues. One of the issues of concern is
the possibility of exploring regionalization of the Port of Oakland. She would
like to see the City of San Leandro take the leadership toward that goal and
make an effort to contact the surrounding cities for their support.
It was noted that, in order to work toward that goal, State-wide legislation
would be required. After a brief discussion among the Council, it was
suggested that the Mayor send letters of support for that concept to our State
Assembly Representative, as well as our Congressional Representatives, noting
that would be the first place to start.
3. Council Member Galvan, referencing the Welfare-to-Work Town Hall
Meeting, recognized the efforts of the Chamber of Commerce to support the
Welfare-to-Work Program and, specifically, thanked Tom Guarino.
6, CONSENT CALENDAR
Consent Calendar items are typically routine in nature and are considered for approval
by the City Council with one single action. The City Council may remove items from
the Consent Calendar for purposes of discussion. Items listed on the Consent
Calendar are deemed to have been read by title.
The Consent Calendar was approved as follows:
M/5IC Galvan and Lothrop. Ayes: 7; Noes: 0
A Minutes of the Meeting of February 1 b, 1999. Approved as submitted.
B. Resolution No. 99-29, Resolution Deleting Restricted Parking, Freight Loading
Zones, Title VI, Chapter 1 of the San Leandro Municipal Code, MacArthur
Boulevard (deletes existing, freight loading zone on the northwest corner of
MacArthur Boulevard at Estudillo Avenue).
