Minutes -City of San Leandro City Council Meeting Apri15,1999 Page 6 Council Member Grant indicated that, upon her return, she received in the mail a plaque from the Cholesterol Low-Down people from the American Heart Association, recognizing Mayor Young's dedication and commitment to the health and well-being of San Leandro and for her participation in the Cholesterol Low-Down Campaign on January 30, 1999. 2. Council Member Glaze commented on his attendance at the Washington Manor Easter Egg Hunt last Saturday. He noted there was a large attendance. He further commented on his attendance at the School Clean-Up Day and Planting for Arroyo High School. It was also very successful. Council Member Glaze, on a sad note, respectfully requested that tonight's meeting be adjourned in memory of Genita Pacely, former Arroyo High School Principal, who passed away last week. She was the first African-American woman to be Principal of that school. 3. Council Member Loeffler commented on the Peace by Piece Summit held recently at the Marina Community Center. Council Member Loeffler reported he attended three baseball events since the last Council Meeting. Council Member Loeffler commented on the leadership from Washington Manor when they addressed the Pazk Master Plan and the need for community input. Council Member Loeffler further acknowledged the Faith Community, who on Good Friday hosted an Ecumenical Service, where San Leandro was acknowledged for its leadership role in "San Leandro Works." Council Member Loeffler concluded by commenting about the newspapers and thanking them for what we learn from them, indicating an Almanac was published recently, which gives information on Commissions, the various parts of our City Government, etc. He indicated some things were omitted, such as the members of the Boazd of Zoning Adjustments, and they did not list all of the members of our Youth Advisory Commission. Council Member Loeffier, as a final comment, asked how is it that San Leandro, which has a large senior population, does not have a Senior Commission? He does not understand that. 4. Council Member Lothrop commented on the lack of signage around the wetlands-azea jogging trails, specifying there is a need for interpretive signs and educational materials.
