Minutes -City of San Leandro City Council and Page 2 <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting -September 7, 1999 <br />-- Letter from Howard Kerr, Vice President, on Behalf of the Washington Home <br />Owners' Association Board of Directors, Recommending Approval of A-99-2 <br />and PD-99-2, with the Conditions Recommended by City Staff and the <br />Planning Commission. <br />-- Motion Certifying Negative Declaration as Complete and in Compliance with <br />CEQA Requirements for A-99-2; Approving Rezoning of 524-526 Lewelling <br />Boulevard from CC Community Commercial District to CC (PD) Community <br />Commercial Planned Development Overlay District; and Approving the <br />Planned Development, PD-99-2 for 524-526 Lewelling Boulevard, Assessor's <br />Parcel Number 412-11-1-7, Subject to the Conditions of Approval. <br />-- Motion (109911009) <br />-- An Ordinance Rezoning Certain Property Herein Described as to Zoning <br />District and Amending the Zoning Map (A-99-2), 524-526 Lewelling <br />Boulevard; Assessor's Parcel Number 412-11-1-7. (1099/1009/1024) <br />-- Pass to Print <br />This being the time and place for the Public Hearing on the above matter, an <br />introduction of the project and overview of the staff report was given by Steve <br />Emslie, Director of Development Services. Hanson Hom, Planning Director, <br />provided a brief summary of the project and the recommendations and key issues <br />discussed during the Planning Commission deliberations. <br />Council Member Glaze clarified with staff that this property is within the joint <br />City/Alameda County Redevelopment Area. The County and the City would share <br />in the tax increments from this project. <br />Ed Boersma, Cubix Construction, addressed the City Council and noted he is <br />present for any questions the City Council may have regarding any technical <br />questions relating to the self-storage project. <br />Phil Tagami, representing the Amin Group, gave a brief overview of the proposed <br />hotel development. <br />Ian Birchall, Project Architect, went over the hotel project, as well as the storage <br />project, and explained the logic and reasoning behind their proposal. <br />The City Council asked various questions regarding the configuration of the hotel <br />on the project site. <br />The Hearing was then opened to the public. <br />Gail Steele, Alameda County Supervisor, addressed the City Council and noted <br />she has worked with the developer to try and come to an agreed upon <br />development. She complimented the City Council on what has been accomplished <br />
