Minutes -City of San Leandro City Council and Page 18 <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting -November 15, 1999 <br />8. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />A. Council Member Glaze commented on the wood-pile site referenced earlier in the <br />meeting with relation to the hotel proposal and added that the wood-pile site is on <br />the Alameda County side and is not within San Leandro's City limits. <br />Council Member Glaze continued by expressing concerns from residents that their <br />water meter shutoff valves are old, and they are unable to turn them. He <br />suggested staff contact the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) to see if <br />they have a maintenance program to check the workability of these valves. <br />Council Member Glaze continued by expressing concern with the Marina off-ramp <br />from the I-880 Freeway. He said the westbound exit is hazardous, especially in <br />rainy weather. <br />Council Member Glaze referenced a recent letter in the Times regarding the clean- <br />up of Pioneer Memorial Park Cemetery. He would like afollow-up report on the <br />status and suggested there might be a possibility for help through the Library <br />Historical Funds. <br />Council Member Glaze also responded to comments made this evening regarding <br />the City's Website and suggested staff consider using interns who will work for <br />minimum wage to help with the webpage development. He indicated he is not <br />impressed with the current service. <br />In conclusion, Council Member Glaze brought up the issue of maintenance of <br />landscaped medians and suggested staff look into a replacement and maintenance <br />fund. <br />B. Council Member Loeffler submitted his comments in writing, and they are attached <br />and incorporated herein. <br />C. Council Member Glaze, on behalf of Council Member Nardine, who left the <br />meeting earlier, indicated she would like the issue of the John Muir Pool to be a <br />priority on the Work Session Schedule. <br />D. Council Member Lothrop reported on her visit with the Mayor to the Davis Street <br />pedestrian crossing at Doolittle Drive. She said the intersection needs to be <br />reviewed, and she and the Mayor will set up a meeting with staff and Mr. Chu <br />from Cal-Trans to review the area. <br />E. Mayor Young indicated she spoke at the Alameda County Recycling Marketplace, <br />attended the Portuguese Thanksgiving Celebration at the U.P.E.C., and attended <br />the Chinese Bible Event in Hayward on Saturday. <br />
