Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council Meeting Page - 5 - <br />January 12, 1998 <br />Cynthia Lin, 17470 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Niguel, Representing Wal-Mart, <br />addressed the Council in support of Wal-Mart coming to San Leandro. <br />Bill Tunney, a Co-Owner of Westgate Shopping Center, addressed the <br />Council in support of Wal-Mart coming to San Leandro. <br />Howard Mann, 11620 Wilshire Boulevard #540, Los Angeles, addressed the <br />Council in support of denying the Appeal. He stated it is a land-use <br />issue. He expressed the importance of the vitality of the Westgate <br />Shopping Center which is at stake. <br />Mike Dunlap, 1620 South Loop Road, Alameda, addressed the Council, <br />stating, if the Council doesn't have discretion beyond staff, there is <br />no need for a Council. He feels the Council should look at every <br />question that comes before them with regard to this issue. <br />Mike Perryman, San Ramon, addressed the Council in support of Wal-Mart. <br />Richard Segel, 5450 Monterey Highway, #47, San Jose, addressed the <br />Council in support of Wal-Mart. <br />Mark Witriol, 701 Whitney Street, Representative of Pet Food Express, <br />addressed the Council in support of Wal-Mart. <br />Diana Hawkins, 1002 Glenn Common, Livermore, addressed the Council in <br />support of Wal-Mart. <br />Terri Neumann, Representing the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce, <br />addressed the Council in support of the project but would like <br />Conditions added that they will abide by the current, approved site <br />usage; refrain from selling guns, alcohol and groceries; and mitigate <br />concerns expressed by the surrounding community. <br />Tina Maier, 3895 Anza Way, addressed the Council, stating her opposition <br />to the Council taking action while there are still so many questions to <br />be answered. She stated her non-support for Wal-Mart. <br />Cheryl Abbas, 15283 Lark Street, addressed the Council in support of <br />Wal-Mart. <br />Albert Paladini, 14970 Inlet Court, addressed the Council, stating that <br />Costco sells alcohol and questioned why there would be concern with Wal- <br />Mart selling alcohol. He noted they would have to get an ABC license to <br />sell alcohol. He expressed his support for Wal-Mart. <br />Ken Pon, 114 Parrott Street, a Downtown, Small-Business Owner, addressed <br />the Council and expressed his support for Wal-Mart. <br />
